FileCatalyst’s flexible architecture provides for a seamless integration into an existing workflow while maximizing the available bandwidth. Increased efficiencies through automation and raw speed provide results of 50 or more times faster than systems based on Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/FTP.


FileCatalyst uses the UDP protocol for the transport of data and adds reliability using a highly efficient, patent pending, retransmission and congestion control mechanism. The flow of data remains fast and efficient and can achieve full line speed with an amazingly low .25% overhead. FileCatalyst also provides a secondary, more firewall friendly transfer method that enhances the performance of TCP/IP by opening up multiple streams of TCP data.

FileCatalyst affords industry-leading acceleration and optimization. Acceleration is achieved by acknowledging very large portions of data and retransmitting only data packets that were lost. In addition to the acceleration — which maximizes throughput on any network — FileCatalyst minimizes the data being sent by compressing it, and transferring only the portions of data that have been modified since the last transfer.

FileCatalyst uses a client-server architecture and consists of a server application, a suite of client side applications, as well as an SDK.
